![]() ![]() It would have been nice to see how some of the scenes were handled, but other than that, everything very much speaks for itself. Truth be told, with the limited backgrounds of the characters, not much more could be expected from both cast members.Īs is common with movies such as this, the physical copy does not come with any special features whatsoever. It’s clear that he is still very much into Sara, no matter what she does. Jackson, who is played by Alexander Dreymon, is actually even more shallow in terms of personality. Allison Williams plays the brave female lead, but also the one that clearly has commitment issues until she is thrown in a life or death situation. Even though the dialogues are quite shallow, both main cast members put down a believable performance. You’ll just get a small introduction, a very long middle, and finally the conclusion which actually wraps itself up in less than five minutes.Īcting performances in Horizon Line are quite decent. While never feeling extremely dragged out, it’s not a fast movie and outside of a few hectic events, nothing truly happens. You’ll just basically spend the entire movie in the cockpit of the airplane while new problems arise along the way. The flow and pacing are somewhat as you’d expect from a movie such as this. With a storm brewing on the horizon and damaged instruments, it’s a race against time to find a suitable spot to land, if the storm does not swallow them whole first. Out of reach from the local communications tower, and with only the basics of flying a small airplane, Sara will have to take over. While Sara and Freddy are reminiscing about the past, and Jackson is sleeping in the back, things take a turn for the worse when Freddy suffers from a heart attack and dies mid-flight. To still get there, they jump aboard Freddy Wyman’s ( Keith David) small plane. Due to this, they miss the only ferry to the place where their mutual friend is getting married. When a year later they have to meet up again, to celebrate the wedding of a mutual friend, an old spark ignites once again. We get introduced to Sara ( Allison Williams), who leaves Jackson ( Alexander Dreymon) behind without saying a single word. Horizon’s Line plot can actually be summarized in a few lines of text. This is what Horizon Line is all about, two people trying to pilot an airplane where the pilot has passed away during the flight, in the middle of nowhere with the ocean as far as the eye can see. Sadly, even a pretty view such as this may not be comforting enough to calm you down when you plummet to your death in a small airplane. Many of us would love to get away from crowded cities, walk along sandy beaches, look at the local fauna and flora, and just relax. And hey, Keith David is in this thing! Granted, it looks like he dies almost immediately, but I'm always up for some Keith David, no matter how small the part.Going to a tropical location may be something we all wish for at a certain point in our lives. It's the type of high-concept, mid-budget thriller that I'd like to see more of, so I'll be happy to give this thing a chance. Forcing Allison Williams to deliver lines like, "Let's get off this plane!" don't exactly promise greatness, but hey – this looks fun, in a silly sort of way. Will Horizon Line be as good? I don't really know. ![]() With nothing but miles of ocean and sky in every direction, and a terrifying storm that's about to envelop them, Sara and Jackson have only one shot – and there's no going back." Horizon Line was directed by Mikael Marcimain and written by Josh Campbell & Matthew Stuecken, who also co-wrote the surprisingly great 10 Cloverfield Lane. But within minutes after takeoff, their pilot suffers a fatal heart attack, leaving Sara and Jackson with no idea where they are, no comms, and no clue how to land the plane. ![]() It was supposed to be a routine and casual 99-minute flight to their friend's tropical island wedding. In the movie, two former lovers, Sara (Allison Williams) and Jackson (Alexander Dreymon) "discover new altitudes of fear aboard a single-engine Cessna plane. Horizon Line looks like a film tailor-made to tap into my fears (although I've never been on a single-engine plane). ![]()
